Is Homeschool free?

Yes, it is free. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t GET expensive. There are thousands of printables, curriculums, unit studies, online programs, and online tutors that have a price. Even craft supplies can get expensive with everything needed.

But if we look, we can find plenty of homeschool recourses that are free for the taking!

I took the time to research some of the free online homeschool programs that are offered and put together a list of 10 that I believe are game changers!

10 Free Homeschool Programs

(Over time, I plan on adding more free homeschool programs to this list, so there maybe more than 10)

1. Chop Chop Cooking club

Chop-Chop cooking club is an online program designed for students Kindergarten through to Grade 8. Students enroll and accept new recipes to to try out while earning badges for mastering cooking skills such as measuring or whisking. Each challenge comes with storage tips and shopping tips. They even get to upload photos of their recipes. And It’s all absolutely free!

2. The Good and The Beautiful

The Good and The Beautiful‘s curriculum is an amazing choice for parents just starting out. With instructions for both parents and students in each lesson it really cuts any prep time into almost nothing.

I use this curriculum for language arts, math, science and handwriting. They have free downloads in PDF formats available for entire math and language arts curriculums from kindergarten through grade 8. Additionally, they offer a full marine biology unit for free download.

All other unit studies can be purchased as a PDF for download for a very fair price while ordering the physical books to be shipped to your address is also an option!

I truly love this company and their curriculum! Their lessons emphasis heavily on family and nature while also pointing to God as the creator of all beauty. Not specifically written from any specific denomination but instead just giving glory to God for creating the beauty we see.

This company has helped fund the building of six schools in Africa while also partnering with Family Humanitarian to help build wells for clean water.

3. Easy Peasy All In One Homeschool

Easy Peasy All-In-One-Homeschool is an complete online homeschool curriculum with resource for Pre-K to Grade 12. They have a unique approach to their units and lessons, parents set the courses then the child begins completing each lesson.

The website tracks each completed lesson but parents are encouraged to keep record of any scores themselves. This online resource has every subject available from math to art to science and handwriting.

They have an additional website Easy Peasy All In One Highschool for grades 9-12. All lessons and resources are free. Donations are accepted.

4. Math Is Fun

Math is fun is a free online homeschool program that offers online lessons, puzzles, activities, games and more! With resources designed for grades K-12 this website helps make math fun!

5. Overcoming Obstacles

This program focuses on different concepts such as respect, communication, conflict resolution, life skills and so much more!

What’s unique about this free homeschool program is that their lessons are customizable! That’s right! You get to make the lessons work for you and your family! Or your welcome to download their original versions as well. Free downloads are available for Grades K-12

6. Mystery Science

Mystery Science is an online curriculum filled with science lessons for all ages of homeschool. Each lesson is complete with a narrated video, hands on activity and prep instructions.

Lesson extensions on reading, vocabulary and even more hand on activities are also available to explore the topics further.

Children are able to answer questions such as “Why do frogs ribbit?” or “Why do some volcanos explode?” making science FUN!

7. Learn How To Become

Learn how to become is an online program designed for anyone looking to gain the necessary skills and requirements to pursue their post secondary education goals.

With video lessons, tools, and other recourses students are able to master skills for interviews, resumes, careers, skilled trades and even becoming an entrepreneur.

8. Sight Words

Sight Words is a Free homeschool program with a string of different learning techniques and materials designed to help children learn to read. With flash cards, printables, online games, learning videos and more children can learn about phonics, memorize consonant diagraphs, sight words and sentence building while still having a blast!

9. Bible Story Printables

Bible story printables is exactly what it sound like. A website full of printables from every part of the bible and for every holiday and occasion.

I LOVE these printables for an easy bible lesson to add to our morning reading time. They are full of fun coloring pages, memory verses and activities for children to learn more about the Bible and Jesus Christ. Most recourses are free downloads with options of purchasing entire units for a low price!

10. Read Theory

Read Theory is an online reading comprehension program for students grade k-12. Full of online reading exercises and printable worksheets, this program is loved and used by educators and homeschoolers everywhere! With Read Theory keeping track of scores and the progress of students reading levels parents are able to cut the work load in half.

11. Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a really awesome free online learning platform that offers everything from math, science, art and even coding!

They provide learning videos, exercises and help track your child’s progress at their own pace while also giving rewards like badges to help keep students motivated.

They even have test prep for stuff like the SAT and LSAT!

Khan Academy Is stacked full of plenty free learning resources and 100% worth checking out!

It’s not just for kids either—anyone can use it, from elementary school students to high school students and beyond!
